It’s a new month so we have a new Wild At Heart featured collector. Checkout Wild At Art Episode IV with the rockin’ Geoffrey and Stacy Chandler!
Your Name: Geoffrey and Stacy Chandler
Location: Raleigh, North Carolina
What do you do when you’re not collecting art?
Geoffrey works in technology support for Wake County Public Schools. When he’s not working, he’s usually getting bossed around by his 30-pound goblin dog or trying not to have a heart attack as he teaches his daughter to drive. Stacy is the communications manager for PineCone, a local nonprofit that presents roots music programming, including the Raleigh Wide Open Music Festival coming Oct. 3-4. She’s also a freelance music journalist, writing mostly about Americana and bluegrass music.
What piece(s) do you own?
Our Hearts Beat As One, Don’t Change That Song, Simply Glazed Bat, Ice Cream You Scream, and You’re Coming With Me.
Where do you display it?
They are scattered throughout our house, like sprinkles on a doughnut.
Why did you connect with this piece?
We were strolling through Raleigh’s Artsplosure festival and both were caught by Will’s bright, bonkers paintings. We didn’t discuss it at all, we just both ducked inside the tent, started flipping through prints, and each came up with several we loved. We love art that has a bit of humor to it but also has something serious to say. We also love bold colors. And desserts. And animals that are kind of assholes.
If this piece was a song, it would be:
GEOFFREY: You’re Coming With Me always jams “Eye of the Tiger” in the most stickable part of my brain. These two are here to chew bubble gum and kick ass. And they’re all out of bubble gum.
STACY: All the desserts make me think of “Sweet Tooth” by Dave Rawlings Machine. I’m pretty sure that song is not actually about desserts at all, but it’s kind of funny if you DO think of it that way.
What’s your go-to comfort activity when you need a little art-inspired escape?
GEOFFREY: I have a banjo that I play with. I’m learning leather craft and enjoy making art from time to time on my iPad (@geoffp_arty_usa). I have a dusty canvas in my garage I hope to put paint on sometime soon.
STACY: I like to do hand embroidery (stabbing is therapeutic!) and read books, and I’m slowly learning to sew.
What is your favorite comfort food?
GEOFFREY: Wheat Thins. By the box.
STACY: A doughnut is never not a delight.
