Underway Wednesday: Universal Secrets

I have long been fascinated by the idiosyncrasies and behavior of animals. I have always believed there are secrets and a lot more going on among animals than humans can comprehend. Similar to other secrets of the universe like how the pyramids were actually constructed. We have science to back some theories, but really no one except the ones that actually constructed it know how they were built. As well, only the bear truly knows what is in it’s head and what it is thinking.

The multi-colored drips are layered on top of each other to create visual texture and actual texture like the layers of mysteries behind the animal kingdom. The pyramid shapes beckon the beginning of human’s understanding of the world. All of these secrets surround by more mysteries of the universe represented by the dark black background. Waiting to be discovered.

I’d like to introduce to you, “Universal Secrets”. A series of paintings and mixed media art that represents the secrets of the universe. Explore these works here. Please contact me if you are interested in any of the pieces.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Creatures Featured at The World Famous

Athens, GA – August 31, 2015 – Athens artist Will L. Eskridge is exhibiting a collection of all new paintings at local favorite, The World Famous. The exhibit, Creature Features, will be on display from August 30th to November 1st with the opening reception being held on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 5:00 p.m.

Eskridge takes his animal-based works on a campy time-travel ride back to the atomic age with a series of paintings that mimics the “creature feature” movie posters of the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s. “Creature Features” is another extension of Eskridge’s nature vs technology themes which focuses on made-up and absurd hybrid animals affected by nuclear fallout and lab experimentation. The works are humorous and playful at face value with a slightly serious commentary on what is happening to animals and nature due to human intervention.

Will L. Eskridge lives and works in Athens, GA. He holds a B.F.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts from San Francisco Art Institute and his work is in both private and public collections in Athens, Atlanta, Raleigh, Nashville, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. For more about Will, visit his website at www.willeskridge.com. The World Famous is located 351 N Hull Street, Athens, GA.

C is for Carl
C is for Carl
Love and Hearts. Happy February all! As the winter rolls by bringing us more cold weather, I have been consistently staying inside sketching and painting with my recently acquired tabletop easel. It has allowed me to stay focused on artmaking and not get distracted from the cold outside studio. With this I have fallen back in love with oils. The smell, the malleability, the earthy, yet vibrant color. Ahhhh, there’s nothing like it!

Before the Georgia Snowpocalypse of 2014, Marie and I made a most invigorating trip to Atlanta visiting our friends Nick and Meredith. We travelled around to amazing galleries in the area including Mint Gallery, Beep Beep Gallery, Whitespace, Poem 88 and the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center. Truly amazing and inspiring experience seeing all the astounding work in these spaces.

Without further adieu, this piece, “C is for Carl” is the latest in my ongoing series, “It’s a Wildlife”. This series examines the industrialization of animals and repercussions of how far we have become separated from the farm, wildlife and nature itself. This one and others are available through Xanadu Studios. Click here to purchase!

Until the next 30 moons…

-Will
