“Outside Den” is one from my newest series “Environmental Habits”. An expressively painted portrait of a brown bear fills the foreground and contrasts with the layered aqua blue background. A single hard-edged bright yellow square is thickly applied creating texture and representing the chaotic struggle to secure one’s habitat. The title is a play on words with the phrase “Outside In” bringing to question what it means to have a habitat. Are animals outside looking in? Or are we inside, looking out? Framed, signed and ready to hang.
