May I introduce to you for day 24 of October Bats, the Common #vampire Bat. 🦇 🦇 🦇 Look at that rad face. Triangles everywhere. They hang out in parts of Mexico, Central America, and South America. They are one of only a few bat species that can run and take-off from the ground. They feed exclusively on the blood of mammals (mostly cattle and horses). The females are a tight-knit group of friends, and share their #blood meals via regurgitation. (Friends that throw up blood together, stay together)
Of all the now 1500 wonderful species of bats, only 3 feed solely on blood (and coincidentally the only mammals) Their direct danger to humans is minuscule.
