I want to live with Common People. I would be remiss if I were not to include the one bat I first saw in person. Day 29 of October Bats celebrates the Big Brown Bat! This flying ball of fuzz has basically conquered all of the United States and Mexico, while hitting some parts of Central America and the south of Canada. It weighs in at a whopping 1/2-3/4 oz. I first saw this bat up close in person while on Bat Blitz in North Georgia a couple years ago. They are particularly tolerant of cooler temperatures when fat stores are sufficient. Has even been known to hibernate in spaces exposed to air along side icicles. This insectivore absolutely loves crunchy beetles.
