Creatures Featured at The World Famous
Athens, GA – August 31, 2015 – Athens artist Will L. Eskridge is exhibiting a collection of all new paintings at local favorite, The World Famous. The exhibit, Creature Features, will be on display from August 30th to November 1st with the opening reception being held on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 5:00 p.m.
Eskridge takes his animal-based works on a campy time-travel ride back to the atomic age with a series of paintings that mimics the “creature feature” movie posters of the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s. “Creature Features” is another extension of Eskridge’s nature vs technology themes which focuses on made-up and absurd hybrid animals affected by nuclear fallout and lab experimentation. The works are humorous and playful at face value with a slightly serious commentary on what is happening to animals and nature due to human intervention.
Will L. Eskridge lives and works in Athens, GA. He holds a B.F.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts from San Francisco Art Institute and his work is in both private and public collections in Athens, Atlanta, Raleigh, Nashville, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
